Mom’s Famous Stuffing Recipe

This is my mom's famous stuffing recipe. In my opinion, this is still the best stuffing I have ever tasted. One of our favorite and most requested recipes.

Ingredients:

  • Toasted Bread Crumbs *
  • 1  -  Egg
  • 1  -  Celery Stalk, finely sliced -  you may use more or less
  • 1  -  Medium Onion - chopped
  • Broth to moisten **
  • Sage Seasoning to taste  (at least 1 teaspoon)
  • Pepper to taste

* I usually use a half a loaf each of white and wheat bread. Cube it and place in oven at 325 degrees to toast and dry. You can also use buns, rolls or store bought bread crumbs

** If cooking a chicken or turkey, use the broth from it to moisten the crumbs. If this is not available, use Swanson's Chicken Broth.  Use just enough broth to moisten the bread crumbs.

Pre-heat oven to either 325 or 350 degrees. Combine all ingredients in a large bowl. Turn mixture out into a baking pan and spread. Cover with foil and cook for one hour to an hour and a half. Uncover and continue cooking until top is browned.
